In April, the annual CFLX sale was in Madisonville. DeMar was represented in the select animals for sale there. Look for details to follow at the Council Family website and here.
January 31 in Fort Worth look for DeMar showing two young heifers, AUTO Annemarie 440A and AUTO Forever 474A. This will be the first time in the show ring for both these young ladies. That night, at the Texas Limousin Association banquet, watch DeMar Farms be honored for the Texas Limousin Bull of the Year, AUTO Audatious.
At Fort Worth on January 24th and 25th, the Juniors showed Limousin heifers first in the TLA Lone Star Shootout and then in the Fort Worth Stock Show Junior Show.
Denver in January can be exciting, is always cold, and sometimes snowy. This year the weather was great. There were a few flakes of snow on one evening for about an hour but nothing stuck. The temperature was actually warmer than the temperature at home in Texas. On our arrival, Monday the twelfth, there was barely time to get checked in and acclimatized before dressing for the North American Limousin Foundation banquet and auction. Our son and daughter-in-law who live in Longmont, Colorado joined us for the evening. What a treat. During the evening several awards were handed out in different divisions and we were lucky enough to receive three. AUTO Audatious, who competed during the 2014 season, was awarded the silver medal Lim Flex show bull of the year award. Then, in addition he was awarded a certificate for the second place show bull of the year in the South Central Region. MJ Zapata, who we had shown earlier in the year and then retired, was awarded the third place show bull of the year for the South Central Region. No one likes to come in less than first, but if we had to be behind another bull, RLBH Air Force One was a bull to respect. So were his handlers. The bull was shown by Rachael Booth, a young lady from Miami, Oklahoma and Etherton Farms of Dawson, Illinois. We have watched Rachael grow up in the Limi business and were proud for her accomplishments. The second night in Denver we attended the National Limousin Sale. There were many fine representative Limousin lots, including RLBH Air Force One. Hopefully, his sale price will be a large addition to Rachael’s college fund. DeMar purchased only one lot in the sale, a “Pick of the Flush “offered by CFLX. Come September we will be adding another potential donor to the band. The open show itself was memorable for any Limi lover who was there to look. The depth of the quality was unsurpassed. Wow!
The bucket list trip taken by Joe and Audatious included 10 days of hard driving and fast foods. Leaving Canton on Wednesday, September 17, Joe, Sonny Dickerson, and Audatious started their trek. The show in Oklahoma City, the Oklahoma State Fair, was on September 19. Audi placed as the Reserve Grand Champion Bull. The journey continued to Fort Smith Arkansas and the Arkansas/Oklahoma Fair. Audatious was the Grand Champion Bull. Moving then to Tyler and the EastTexas State Fair, Audi was again, Grand Champion bull. The distance and the timing was right. Hopefully, Joe and Audi have gotten this out of their system.
On October 18, Audi was back in the show ring, Grand Champion and smiling at the Arkansas State Fair in Little Rock.
On October 30 Audi was shown at the American Royal Stock Show in Kansas City, Kansas. In this show, one of the largest in the country, Audi placed first in class and first in division.
